I received an email out of the blue from Buckhead THRIFTique which is a division of Buckhead Christian Ministry letting me know they were closing the thrift store permanently and would I be interested in a donation of wedding dresses for my Angel Gown mission. Of course I said yes even though I have quite a few to work on.
Through my contact Ann Hewitt, we made arrangements for me to go pick them up. Thinking I was going to get 3 or 4 dresses, I made my trek from Dallas GA to Buckhead. (About an hour drive). Ann met me at the door and graciously invited me in. She showed me the dresses the Ministry wanted to donate. There were bags and bags of beautiful wedding dresses! 26 of them! Plus there were 11 pastel prom/bridesmaids dresses. Wow!
I drove my trusty rusty Ford Escape around to the loading dock and loaded all the dresses into my vehicle with the seats down. It was full to the top plus the front seat. One thought came to my head…my husband is going to think I’m nuts! And where are you going to put all of them! But I knew they came to me for a purpose!
Right now they are in our dining room waiting for me to haul them up to my sewing area so I can sort and place them on the dress rack I purchased from the thrift store. (At a great price).
