Lovely Dresses Donated to become Angel Gowns

Donated dresses  Some of these gowns are brand new with tags still on them.  We do make gowns for the tiny boys who didn’t live.  Sometimes we add blue trim or use another fabric to add a vest and bow tie.  Other times we make them with the satin.   Look at the details on the dresses.  They will make gorgeous baby gowns!  It’s hard not to just make frilly gowns with all this pretty detail. Love the lace and soft tulle which can be added to the tiny wraps.  Check out our Facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/NorthGeorgiaAngelGowns/ Each bride who donated have such unique tastes when choosing their special dress for their special day.  Now they are ready for their dress to take on another special purpose!  It’s always so hard to take that first cut when disassembling the dress.

The Sewing Area

Here is where the work is done to sew the creations.  I use a Brother computerized sewing machine.  It also has the capabilities to embroider.  Next to it is the Singer serger. I use this for the fabric types that unravel easily.  A table covered with a cutting board for cutting out the patterns is off to the side so all I have to do is turn my chair to the side..  I use the floor to actually take the dress apart.  Since the wedding dress has so much fabric and can be heavy, the floor allows me to spread out. My main thread is either white or off white.  As in the first picture, I have spools of colored thread displayed.  I buy rolls of 3/8” or 5/8” double sided ribbon from Amazon.  I can get a roll of 100’ for just over $12.  I do buy blue, yellow or green trims to use on the boy gowns or wraps. I have a nice comfy chair along with my cute assistant who sits on the chair with me. She leaves me room to sit on the edge of that comf...

Starting a Community Service, Need Volunteers

I’ve been keeping myself busy this winter making angel gowns from used wedding dresses.  The baby gowns are then donated to organizations that give them to families who lost a baby either during birth or if the baby didn’t survive. 😢 Currently I am looking for volunteer seamstresses who would like to share their sewing talent for a good cause.  The only criteria is you need a sewing machine and a good pair of scissors.  I will supply the wedding dresses and the patterns.  Contact me for more information!
